Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has sent a message to all Old Trafford supporters ahead of the clash against second placed Liverpool on Sunday.
The Portuguese admitted after the EFL semi -final game against Hull City on Tuesday that he wanted more from the supporters, the players and himself, even though United won the match 2-0.
Although Manchester United fans are excited at the prospect of a possible showdown at Wembley with Liverpool but with the defeat of Liverpool to Southampton, the chances of playing against Liverpool in the final is reduced unless Liverpool can turn the tide in the second leg.
With such magnitude of support and anticipation ahead of the weekend clash, the players will need a boost from the fans and if the fans support their team, it will be an encounter with so much excitement all through the entire game.
“I believe the team is responsible for the participation of the fans in games, it is our duty and we must fulfill it” Mourinho said.
“If we play very well, if we play enthusiastically then the fans will support, motivate and even play with us. When we don’t play well or we play with less intensity and energy, we will not be surprised if the fans relax a bit”.
“We are lucky to have amazing supporters at this club;I can only say wonderful things about them. You will know the real fans when the moments are not good, the fans has been amazing even before we started our winning streak.
“They have been behind us, pushing and supporting us all through the season, they are really amazing.
“But Sunday is a special match for us and a special match for the Manchester United fans. So my invitation is don’t come to the theatre but come to play, come to play with us”
