Sol Campbell urges Mesut Ozil to sign a new contract

Former Arsenal football club center back Sol Campbell has urged Mesut Ozil to sign a new contract with Arsenal.

The German midfielder who has displayed exceptional skills this season previously refused to sign a new contract with the team.

Mesut Ozil claims he wants to know Arsene Wenger’s fate in the club before he can decide on whether to sign a new contract or not.

He also made it clear that he is comfortable playing under Arsene Wenger and will like to know his fate during agreeing to a contract extension.

He went on further to say that Arsene Wenger was the one who signed him and he is also a manager he has come to trust.

The former Arsenal defender however told Ozil not to take Arsene Wenger’s future in Arsenal into consideration. He asked Ozil to take the big leap and sign a new contract with the English champions.

Mesut Ozil however denied the fact that he has not signed a new contract because the club refused to increase his wage.

The 28-year old German attacking midfielder first played for Westfalia 04 Gelsenkirchen between 1995 and 1998. He was signed by Teutonia Schalke-Nord in 1998 and played for the football club between 1998 and 1999.

After playing for Teutonia Schalke-Nord the attacking midfielder moved to Falke Gelsenkirchen where he played for a single year between 1999 and 2000.

In 2000 Mesut Ozil was signed by Rot-Weiss Essen and he played with the football club for about six years before leaving.

Ozil made his way to a big team Schalke 04 and played with the German team between 2005 and 2008.  He later moved to Werder Bremen where he played for about three years before he joined Real Madrid.

Mesut Ozil played for Real Madrid for four years before Arsene Wenger brought him over to Arsenal in 2013.

Upon his arrival at Arsenal football club, the German midfielder was given the jersey number 11 which he seemed to like.
