Chelsea and Manchester United may have to fight for the signature of Hakan Calhanoglu as both clubs are interested in signing him.
News coming from Turkey claims that Chelsea has submitted a bid for Bayern Leverkusen midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu.
Calhanoglu has been consistently linked to the Premier League for some time with several clubs trying to bring in the Turkish mid fielder because of his exceptional skills and special abilities in dead ball situations especially free-kicks.
The Turkish international was recently linked with a move to United after he appeared to make comments about his future.
“Barcelona and Manchester United are huge clubs it would be difficult to turn them down”
“I have not said anything about any transfers or anything of the sort” he said.
Although it is not clear if Jose Mourinho will be particularly interested in Calhanoglu because United already have Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Juan Mata as creative midfielders.
Chelsea is looking for a player to fill the void left by Oscar after the Brazilian moved to China. Reports also confirmed that last month.
Chelsea has kept Calhanoglu under close watch for some time and current indicators suggests Chelsea will be taking active measures to secure his signature soon.
The Turkish star has been very impressive for the German side this season and has impressed scouts sent by Chelsea to watch him in action. Though Chelsea is in active chase to get him, there will be stiff competition from other European Clubs.
Calhanoglu is reportedly unlikely to move away from the German Bundesliga this January but will be willing to move during the summer.
The attacking midfielder has shown interest in moving to the Premier League sometime in his career although he still has two-and-a-half years left on his current contract with Leverkusen.
Calhanoglu moved to Bayern Leverkusen from Hamburg for 14.5 million euros and would be available for about 25 million euros.
The Bundesliga star has scored five goals and provided six assists so far this season in all competition for Leverkusen.
