Torino has reportedly rejected a £56 million bid for striker Andrea Belotti from Arsenal.
Andrea Belotti, 23, has been a subject of interest from some of world’s biggest clubs after providing a total of 17 goals in only 21 appearances for his club and country recently.
Belotti recently penned a new deal with the Serie A side after his excellent form and this has solidified his presence with the Serie A team.
A source from Arsenal revealed that a bid is yet to be formally lodged, but the sporting director of Torino, Gianluca Petrachi countered the claim.
The Torino personnel stated : “We got a £56million transfer bid from Arsenal for Andrea Belotti and refused the offer, because we feel that it does not reflect the true value of the player.
“Anyway, Andrea is going nowhere, at least for now. We want to keep him, enjoy his exceptional contribution to our team and enjoy him at Torino for now, then we will see what happens in the long term.
“Club President Urbano Cairo ensured an important buy-out clause and we are determined to keep him. I think he is worth more than what Arsenal offered.” He stated.
The 23 -year-old Italy international, who has played five times for his country, recently signed a new contract which includes a £85.7 million release clause.
Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, who has fourteen goals in the Italian topflight this season so far, is the only player in the Serie A’s goal scoring charts that is above Andrea Belotti
The Torino man played the full 90 minutes for his team on Sunday as they were held 0-0 Sassuolo in the Serie A league. The result has left the club in 8th position in the table after 19 games.
Andrea Belottti and his Torino teammates will now face AC Milan in a Coppa Italia tie on Thursday, January 12.
