Carlos Queiroz has told Manchester United fans not to worry about the clubs position in the premier league at the end of this season, but to appreciate the fact that the club is moving in the right direction under Jose Mourinho.
Queirozwas Sir Alex Ferguson’s assistant at Old Trafford most notably from 2004 to 2008. After the departure of Ferguson, David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal both struggled to match his achievements.
Jose Mourinho was appointed in May last year and the Red Devils are currently unbeaten in 11 matches in the premier league despite a tricky start to the season. He further stated that Manchester United is making consistent improvements under Jose Mourinho.
Manchester United are sixth on the premier league table on 39 points , 10 points behind league leaders Chelsea and just 3 points behind fourth placed Manchester City.
“As a Manchester United fan that still has many friends at the club, I am pleased to see the team getting good results,” Queiroz said.
The former Real Madrid and Portugal manager believes it is not about where the club ends this season but where it is going, though he hopes for a top four finish and a champion’s league spot.
“The game against Liverpool is very important for both clubs”. Queiroz added.
“This type of game could decide who stays in the top-four and who drops. But it is more important for United because we are just five points behind them; we need to close the gap at the top”
“It is important for a team to get back on track after some tough times. It is happening gradually, the club is moving toward the right direction”
“Ever since Sir Alex left, it has not been easy for the club, the club was not in the right position and atmosphere but that is already changing”
