Two premier league sides, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, could be set for a bidding war over young Barcelona defender Marc Cucurella.
Cucurella arrived Camp Nuo at a tender age of 14 and had been tipped to be a huge success by his coaches at Barcelona. He is a promising talent and shows lots of promise.
While Cucurella ii sane exceptional talent, he’s current contract will expire this summer, and he’s yet to sign a new deal. The lack of a new deal is interesting to both Chelsea and Spurs as both clubs are intent on luring the player.
Scouts from both clubs have monitored the left back in European youth competitions and are satisfied with his play.
The Spanish club will like to agree to new terms with the player, but fear he could follow the footsteps of former Barcelona youth product Cesc Fabregas and Hector Bellerin who left Nuo Camp for London at a tender age.
Although interest in Cucurella remains, he is keen to continue his career with Barcelona instead of moving to England. It is also expected that he will sign a new contract for Barcelona soon.
Barcelona has contacted his representatives over a new deal with him; he is also looking forward to establishing himself as the first Choice left back in Barcelona’s team B.
Barcelona’s first team left back position is occupied by Jordi Alba and Lucas Digne. Alba has been the recognized first choice left back since making his move to the club in 2012. Digne has only featured eight times in La-Liga this season.
Chelsea wants to bring the youngster to the Stamford Bridge, and continuous lobby is still in play to have the player change his mind and come over to Chelsea.
Tottenham has a reliable left back in Danny Rose, but Cucurella could be a promising replacement for the long term.
Cucurella has played just once for Barcelona Team B this season and has featured for Spain at Under -16 and under-17.
