Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is interested in signing the prolific Atletico Madrid forward, Antoine Griezmann who is also on the radar of Manchester United.
Guardiola has been frustrated by City’s lack of sharpness in front of goal this season and he’s keen to add the Frenchman to bolster his attack.
The former Bayern Munich manager has been trying to overhaul his team following some unimpressive display that has left them in third place, seven points behind league leaders Chelsea.
He is also willing to pursue new signings next season after spending £160 million on new players in his few months as manager at Manchester City.
He believes the crop of players he inherited from former manager Manuel Pellegrini needs significant additions if they are to achieve their aim of dominating the premier league and winning their first Champions League trophy.
Though Guardiola’s attention has been on strengthening the defense, he’s also keen on Antoine Griezmann, who has been in fantastic form this season.
Manchester City is willing to pay up to £70 million for the attacker, but they will face stiff competition from their arch-rival and neighbor Manchester United.
United has already initiated the move of signing Griezmann by engaging the services of a top agent to negotiate on their behalf.
It is reported that Mourinho likes the way the Frenchman plays, and Guardiola will not want a top talent like him to move to their rivals.
Guardiola is also interested in signing Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal. Sanchez has refused to sign a new contract at the Emirates Stadium as the club is not willing to meet his new wage demands.
City is confident of landing the former Barcelona forward in the summer as Arsenal will only be able to cash in on him by then if he refuses to sign a new deal.
