Arsenal eyes German Playmaker as Ozil and Sanchez contract talk stalls

Arsenal is keeping a close watch on Borusia Dortmund’s star Marco Rues as contract extension discussions with Ozil and Sanchez stalls.

Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil have been asking for an improved contract before signing an extension at the Emirates, but both parties are yet to reach an agreement.

Both players’ current contract will end by 2018, but their wage demand is giving the club management some concerns as they hope to have both players remain with the club side in the long term.

Ozil and Sanchez are both demanding a fee of around £200,000 per week before they can agree to a new contract with the North London club.

The Gunners see German star Marco Rues as a possible replacement for Alexi Sanchez as he can operate from the left wing and play well as a central striker.

Marco Rues started this season in an unimpressive style; during this season he has suffered injury concerns that forced him out of play for a few games at the start of the season. He has returned scoring four goals in just six appearances.

Similarly, Dimitri Payet has been linked with a move to the emirate stadium. Arsene Wenger is particularly impressed with the Frenchman after an impressive debut season in English football.

Wenger will like to hijack the Frenchman as PSG and Manchester United are also believed to be interested in the French midfielder.

Payet said that the opportunity to play for the Gunners would be too hard to turn down.

“I was told that Arsene Wenger sees me as the missing piece in the Arsenal team. I am flattered with that statement, but he has never said that personally to me.”

“When we played against Arsenal, we conceded many goals, Arsenal is a very technical side, and when you are a skillful player, you will always have fun in such a team. Arsenal remains a title contender and a side that always feature in the Champions League; they are a good team any player would love to play for.
