After Columbian James Rodriguez had given a clue over the weekend that he is considering a move away from Real Madrid, the transfer rumors were predictably only some hours away. It didn’t take long before interests started to pour in for his signature.
Rodriguez has not been playing for Real Madrid and has become irritated by it. The Colombian has not kept his unhappiness within himself and has displayed it openly a few times. The player has become unsettled and irritated by his being sidelined from games.
Why speculations and interests persist, his destination remains speculative as various club sides from Spain and England, have registered interests in securing the signature of the talented player.
Recently, Jose Mourinho has joined the queue that has picked interest in the Colombian. News suggests that Jose Mourinho is very much interested in bringing the player to Manchester United; however, he will play as in a free attacking position behind a striker.
Rodriguez can also play out in the wide position. However, the Manchester United boss has a wealth of alternatives in that area with the likes of Juan Mata, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Anthony Martial, Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford Wayne Rooney, and even Memphis Depay.
It could, however, be argued that James Rodriguez brings an alternative appeal when compared to the current United players that fit the role Mourinho intends to play him in.
Real Madrid continues to enjoy offers for Rodriguez, and the Red Devils manager is being described as being very consistent and persistent in their pursuit of signing the player, but even if interest persists, it may appear more like a 2017 summer transfer than that of the winter.
The Spanish league leaders would want to recover as much as possible from the €80 million James Rodriguez cost the club when he was brought from AS Monaco of France.
