Jurgen Klopp is interested in signing Leicester City star Kasper Schmeichel. The goalkeeper has been generating interest from top clubs after helping Leicester City to the Premiership title last season.
The likelihood of the deal coming through this January is slim as it might jeopardize Leicester city’s campaign this season. Kasper Schmeichel is one of the top players presently at Leicester City, instead of losing their top stars they are planning to add more quality players this January.
The goalkeeper’s name has repeatedly been mentioned at Anfield as the perfect candidate to man the sticks. Liverpool needs to solve their goalkeeping issues as soon as possible if they are to maintain their title challenge this season.
Loris Karius was signed at the beginning of the season, but he has been disappointing so far. He came to Anfield with high hopes of filling the big shoes left by Pepe Reina, but his performances recently have come under huge scrutiny from fans and football pundits.
Karius is prone to errors which have cost Liverpool some valuable points already this season. Mignolet, on the other hand, has not lived up to expectation.
Kasper Schmeichel was instrumental to Leicester’s premier league triumph last season and he have been rewarded with an improved contract which will tie him down at the king power stadium till 2021.
The Danish shot-stopper has missed six straight games already due to a fractured hand, but he recovered enough to play against Stoke City.
At 30 years of age, Schmeichel still has about 4 or 5 years to play barring any serious injury. Leicester will only agree to a move if the offer is lucrative enough to allow them to get a quality replacement within a month.
If Jurgen Klopp is not convinced about Kairus and Mignolet, he might have no other option than to sign Kasper Schmeichel
