Arsenal must keep Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and Oxlade-Chamberlain says David Seaman.
Arsenal legend David Seaman is anxious for his former side not to develop into a team that continues to sell their best players to rival teams. He would rather want Arsenal to retain the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil and also challenge for the title; he maintains the notion that for the team to be real title contenders, the best players needs to be retained.
“Whatever it would take, Arsenal should do to retain especially concerning Sanchez, Ox, and Ozil– these are top quality players,” David Seaman expressed.
“We have become a team that would let go of our best players to other teams. I thought we had passed that already, and we have moved beyond this phase? Are we a club that allows its best assets to go or can we afford to keep them at the club?”
The trio was not in their best form in Sunday afternoon’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester City, despite Alexis Sanchez’s inch-perfect assist for winger Theo Walcott earlier on.
However, all three players have been extraordinary this season, producing a combined twenty-nine goals for the Emirates side throughout the 2016-2017 campaign.
With Ozil, Sanchez and Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contracts coming to an end in the summer of 2018, manager Arsene Wenger will have to act quickly so as to extend their contracts and secure their long-term stay at the club.
England winger Oxlade-Chamberlain was substituted just 13 minutes after his introduction against Guardiola’s Manchester City on Sunday afternoon after he displayed signs of hamstring difficulty.
It now remains unclear if Chamberlain will be fit for the Gunners’ Boxing Day encounter against West Bromish Albion in about weeks’ time.
Despite Chamberlain’s injury concern, Wenger will still have Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil to pick from as Arsenal looks to move back up to the second position with three points by securing a win.
