Juventus defender Dani Alves suffers injury

Juventus defender Dani Alves suffered a broken leg in Sunday’s 3-1 defeat to Genoa. The former Barcelona full back was taken off the pitch a little over ten minutes before the end of the game at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris following a collision with Lucas.

Juventus continued the game with ten men. They had already used all their 3 substitutions. The Brazil international full back moved from Barcelona to Juventus in June on a free transfer.

It was a shocking defeat for Juventus who were stunned by Genoa.

Juventus were the comfortably at the first position in league and were expecting to win this match. They are now four points clear of Roma who are currently occupying second position.
The 33 year old Brazilian made a post on his Instagram account.

“Thank you all for the messages of support and affection, unfortunately our profession being a profession of risk experiences these kind of accidents, “I would also like to clarify to all my friends and family that it is not as severe as being reported in the media.

I will be back soon as always, back to my profession with the dedication that has led me to achieve a successful career over the years.

Thank you very much for your kindness.” he wrote on his Instagram account.

Due to this injury, he is likely to be side-lined for an extended period.

For the manager Massimiliano Allergri, Dani Alves is difficult to replace as he is good at playing his role at holding back the opposition.

He is a very reliable player; his absence will surely be felt by the team.

The injury woe plaguing Juventus is becoming a huge cause for concern as the team’s defence is missing most of its key men.

Andrea Barzagli is out until 2017 due to a shoulder dislocation, fellow defender Bonucci also picked up a thigh injury.

More tests will be carried out so as to determine the extent of the injury.
